Drexel Winter Break in Costa Rica:
Sustainable Fashion Culture & Community
Fashion is where this course begins — and sustainable enterprise is where it goes. Built around Wearsos, a women-led social enterprise in Costa Rica that transforms retired airline materials into high-end upcycled accessories, this immersive program offers students from any background a firsthand look at how circular economy principles, ethical supply chains, and community empowerment work together in a real, operating business. Through hands-on workshops, volunteer days in the rural artisan community of Mollejones, collaborative sessions with the Wearsos founders, and visits to the CATIE Botanical Garden and Nortico Cacao Farm, every day connects directly to course learning objectives. No fashion background required — only curiosity about what it takes to build something that matters.

Students will be registered for DSMR T380 for 3 credits as a part of their winter term. Students must leave space for these 3 credits in their credit load, or will otherwise be billed for exceeding the 20 credit term maximum.
