GE3: Denmark, Denmark Technical University (DTU)

The Program

The Global Engineering Education Exchange (GE3) is an international exchange program for all College of Engineering, iSchool and Biomedical Engineering majors. The program allows Drexel students to study in one of 9 countries overseas, fully immersed into the education, culture and daily life of their host country. This is a fantastic opportunity to make new friends and explore your academic interests from a different perspective.

For more information on study at Denmark Technical University (DTU) please visit their website

Academics
DTU is a semester based school. Only fall semester is workable with Drexel's calendar.

Program calendar

Fall term start: Late August. Students will need to leave summer term early

Fall term end: Early January - You may take your exams before Christmas.

Spring term start:  Early February ( you may need to depart US last week of Jan)

Spring term end: Early June

DTU offers a variety of courses in English. Majors offered at DTU include:  Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering and Physics.

Please consult the DTU Course Catalog for more details.

DTU - Course Equivalents.xls List of DTU courses that have been approved with Drexel equivalents. If there are courses that you would like to take that are not listed, you will need to get equivalents approved by the appropriate department. For example, if you want to take a sociology course for Drexel credit, the Sociology Department at Drexel must pre- approve the course and equivalency.

Grading: Students are taught by Danish faculty at DTU. Grades are noted as credit/no credit (CR/NCR) on students - transcript and will NOT affect their GPA. In order to receive CR students must earn a "C" or above. The goal is to be a full-time student at DTU while also taking the equivalent of a full-time load at Drexel. A full course load at a Danish school is between 20-30 ECTS credits per semester.

The Experience

Just a few hours flight from the capitals of Sweden, Norway, Finland, the UK, Germany and the Baltic States, DTU lies at the heart of Scandinavia and Northern Europe and is a leading-edge institution in the thriving design and engineering culture of the region.

There will be an international orientation week arranged by the international student counselors. The program includes an introduction to Danish language courses, lectures on Danish culture, introduction to studying at DTU and much more. During this week, you have the occasion to meet with your new fellow students from all over the world and get help from the student counselors with all the practical issues relating to your studies at DTU.

Most students live in the dormitories while attending classes in Denmark but off-campus housing is also available. For information on housing for international exchange students at DTU, please visit DTU's website. DTU International Students.

All students are required to obtain a visa for entry into Denmark. Visa Instructions.pdf
