Program Description:

The Program

The Drexel Exchange program with Seoul National University (SNU) is open to all Drexel students with an interest in spending a term studying at one of the most prestigious Korean universities. The SNU Exchange program completely immerses Drexel students into Korean education and culture as you take classes with the local Korean and international students.

For more information about SNU please visit http://www.useoul.edu/

Academics

SNU is a semester based school. Due to SNU's calendar this exchange works best for students scheduled for class during fall or spring terms.

Program Calendar
* Semester 1: early March - mid June
* Semester 2: early September - mid December

Classes at SNU are taught in both English and Korean. Students must have completed at least Korean 103 in order to apply for this program. The higher your level of Korean, the greater your course options. Students should consider taking language courses during their freshman summer vacation term or on campus during their co-op terms in order to advance their language skills. For more information please contact Modern Languages Department at 215-895-5816.

SNU - Course Equivalents.xls Please find a list of previously approved courses for SNU.  For any course you wish to take not on this list, students must have equivalents approved by the appropriate department. For example, if you want to take sociology course in Korea for Drexel credit, an equivalent course must be pre-approved by the Sociology Department at Drexel.

Check out SNU's course offerings in their Course Catalog.  See SNU's Course Catalog Guidlines.pdf to help you navigate their course catalog website.

The SNU list of courses in English for 2014 will be released in July. In the meantime, please refer to the 2013 list of courses. 2013 SNU English Course List.pdf

Grading: Students are taught and graded by Korean faculty at SNU. Grades are noted as "CR/NCR" on their transcript and will NOT affect their GPA. In order to receive CR students must earn a "C" or above at the host institution. Students may take up to 17 credits while at SNU. The goal is to be a full time student at the host institution while also taking the equivalent of a fulltime load at Drexel.

The Experience

SNU was established in 1946 and has 6 graduate programs, 16 colleges and 66 research institutes. 20,000 undergraduates and 11, 000 graduate students are enrolled at SNU.

On-campus housing is available at SNU.

All students must obtain a visa for entry into Korea. Visa Instructions.pdf
