The IAE Business School Exchange offers an opportunity for LeBow MBA and MS Finance students to add a global and Latin American perspective to their business studies. Through the exchange, students will enroll in MBA classes with local students in the one year IAE MBA curriculum. Consistently ranked one of the top MBA programs in Argentina, IAE Business School focuses on training leaders for society with an expertise on emerging economies, especially in Latin America. Part of the Universidad Austral, IAE Business School is accredited by the three leading international organizations, EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA.  Its mission is to strengthen the managerial skills as well as the human virtues required for management of its students with an emphasis on transformational management styles.

IAE offers coursework in both Spanish and English. Students with a strong proficiency in Spanish will benefit from a greater selection of courses, and applicants should have the equivalent of one year of college level Spanish. Program Options

Because of the eight week modules, LeBow graduate students can participate in the exchange during any term of their studies. Participation, however, in the spring term is not recommended for second year graduating students as it is likely to delay graduation.Graduate students in the Arts Administration program many participate in this option to fulfill some of the business requirements of their curriculum. Students should plan to arrive one week prior to the start of the module to provide time for orientation and settling in to Buenos Aires.  Approximate dates for each term are:

Fall:  mid-October to mid-December

Winter: early-February to end March

Spring:  mid-April to mid-June

Summer: mid-June to mid-August

Course Equivalencies: As part of the application process, students must obtain course approvals from the relevant departments at Drexel for the courses they intend to complete while studying at IAE. It is recommended that students approve more courses than they intend to take while studying abroad as course schedules can change or conflict or students may not receive all of their top choices. Students should primarily select elective courses for study abroad and should work closely with their academic advisor in their program on the course selections.

Grading: Students are taught and graded by IAE faculty. Grades are noted as "CR/NCR" on their transcript and will NOT affect a student’s GPA. In order to receive CR students must earn the equivalent of a "B" or above at the host institution. IAE uses an Argentine grading scale, ranging from 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest possible mark. Drexel students must receive a grade of a 7 or higher in their IAE courses to receive credit for their courseswork at LeBow.The goal is to be a full-time student at the host institution while also taking the equivalent of a full-time load at Drexel. Students studying for a term IAE will complete three courses to maintain their full-time status at Drexel.  A full course load at IAE is three courses per term.

The Experience

IAE Business School is located in Pilar, a suburb of Buenos Aires, the capitol of Argentina. MostBuenos Aires students opt to live in Buenos Aires and commute to IAE for their classes by taxi or bus. Buenos Aires is a vibrant city with over 15 million inhabitants, roughly half of the country’s population. It is the political, financial and industrial center of the country. The city is known for its beautiful European-style architecture, delicious restaurants and a variety of museums and cultural activities to suit all interests. Often called the “Paris of South America,” students can enjoy the variety of neighborhoods, including beautiful parks and squares that exist throughout the city. Learning to tango, attending a soccer match or enjoying a traditional Argentine barbecue are experiences not to be missed while in Buenos Aires.

In addition to the excitement of Buenos Aires, IAE offers a variety of activities to its students to complement their course work including team building activities, outdoor excursions such as hiking and kayaking,  guest speakers and seminars.  The International Relations team is available to assist visiting international students with the logistics of their experience at IAE.

US students participating on the exchange will need to obtain a visa and pay a reciprocity fee of approximately $140 US. Other nationalities should inquire with the Argentine consulate about entry requirements.
