Fall Break in Spain:
Architecture & Interiors Intensive in Barcelona
This exciting Intensive Course Abroad in Barcelona is sponsored by the Department of Architecture, Design & Urbanism and will take place in the break period between the Summer and Fall terms. Prior to travel, lectures and readings in Philadelphia will acquaint students with the history, arts and architecture in Barcelona and surrounding areas. The program includes thirteen days of intensive visits in Barcelona and a short stay in Valencia and the Catalonia countryside. The group will visit numerous museums, gardens, and historic and contemporary sites and and each student will be responsible for the completion of a written research project.
Credit/Registration: Students will be registered for ARCH 347 / INTR T580 for 3 credits during the summer term. The course satisfies the History/Theory in the architectural curriculum and humanities for other majors. Students must leave room for the 3 credits in their summer credit load as the credits are not optional.
Pre-Travel Required Lectures: attendance is mandatory during summer term lectures in Philadelphia. Tentative class weeks are listed below and the exact meeting dates during each week will be determined.
- July 6th: Introduction, syllabus, research paper discussion (3 hours)
- July 20th: Lecture 1 , discussion of proposed research topics (3 hrs)
- August 3rd: Lecture 2, individual work with research topics (3 hrs)
- August 10th: Sketching Workshop, individual meetings (3 hours)
- August 19th: Lecture 3, individual work with research topics (3 hrs)
- August 24th: Research Paper Due

ICA Financial Aid: Students may request an Adjusted Cost of Attendance by submitting the ICA program fee and estimated out of pocket expenses listed above to Drexel Central (via askdrexel). Doing so could make students’ eligible for additional financial aid. Students may also be eligible to apply for Drexel's
ICA Scholarships.
